The MicroTally® Swabs serve a broad range of purposes for aggregated surface sampling. They can be utilized for both continuous and manual sampling methods. These swabs are frequently employed in the sampling of Salmonella, Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC), E. coli O157:H7, and other indicator organisms on beef trimmings. Following manufacturing, both the swab and the accompanying bag undergo sterilization. After sampling, the swab can be returned to the bag for cultural enrichment. To streamline the sampling process, the wired seal design of the bag ensures content protection and facilitates effortless bag opening and closing.
MicroTally® Swabs meet all the parameters specified in the FSIS document (FSIS log no. 15-SMP-1064-N-B) and, when used as directed, provides an organism recovery rate greater than or equivalent to the typical N60 method for detection (Wheeler & Arthur, 2017*).
The MicroTally® Swab is a sterile cloth sampling device made of non-woven spun polymer, specifically engineered to effectively capture and retain surface bacterial pathogens. It has dimensions of 24″ x 8″ and is individually packaged in a sterile sample bag. This sterile wire-closure bag is leak-proof, tear-resistant, non-toxic, non-reactive, and transparent, and it includes a white write-on area for easy labeling.
